Alderwasley Luncheon Club

Enjoy good company, good food, and engaging entertainment

The Alderwasley Luncheon Club is a thriving, friendly group that meets once a month either at the Village Hall or at a local pub. Get-togethers start at 10.30am with coffee, followed at 11am with an hour’s entertainment plus occasional raffle, with lunch served from 12.45pm. It is organised and run by volunteers.

The engaging entertainment program includes guest speakers, musical performances, or craft demonstrations. For example, past speakers have shared their travel experiences and deep knowledge. Recent topics have covered a “History of Nursey Rhymes”, a “Trip to Alaska” and local history insight about “Jedediah Strutt”.

Lunch is either a two or three course meal at the hall provided by a local caterer or pub fare at local hostelries. Recent pubs have included the Bluebell at Farnah Green, the Railway Inn at Cowers Lane and the Black Boy at Heage.

The club is orientated towards the over 70s, but younger folk are welcome and encouraged to join. Typically 20 - 30 people come to each lunch.
